While there are safety guidelines for magnetic resonance (MR) accreditation, implementation of safety programs was left to the individual facility and there was not a mechanism to be paid for the time and effort involved. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) has proposed six new Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes related to MR safety, effective in 2025.
